Poem read on Pakaraima writers dinner oct 5 2013

Love for nothing

You frolic them like alien crops
Flowing like Kaieteur
These salty drops
At these authentic emotions you laugh with pleasure

You say real men don't exist
They don't cry, nor show it
Why not so, for real men feel you
Not who believe in black and blue

Why not go for those whose heart are like cane not sugar
Hardened by years of rum and sunshine
Real men are brave enough to care
Real mean cushion their feelings but can you read the sign?

Or else the raw emotions of love cannot be held
Not in random texts nor screened smile
Instead tears says it for such is the heart withheld
Do you rather the snake's poison or the oyster's pearl?

You don't feel it, mean it
You don't care for a gift?
Well you don't need it, want it
Isn't the ones who need it, and feel it deserve a gift?

Real men love
They love without condition
They love for the sake of God like an innocent dove!
But hurt people hurt people and that's no assumption

Unrequited love hurts, this is not a mere sentiment
The cycle of hurt never pretends
The laughter of hypocrites will face Judgment
Judgement never misses,  it gets you to the ends

Real men stop hurt
Real men let go and forgive
Don't keep scores and forever blurt
Who does that? Love is peaceful, graceful as a lady's drive!

For love never hates,  is never jealous and do cries
Men who are real are friends forever
For they  cry from their hearts,  not from their eyes.
Just love. For love begets love! Never say never!
